Bellvei is located on the eastern sector of Baix Penedès, on the northeast of Vendrell and near to N-340 and the beach. The municipal district has an area of 8.47km2 and there’s more than 2,300 habitants. Bellvei is a town with a lot of years of history and with an important cultural network which keeps alive the customs and the open and friendly mood of its population. Bellvei is the only place in Catalonia, which produces padded caps.
Bellvei appeared for the first time in 1037, and for a long time it depends on Castellet, which was documented until the 18th century. The town was formed in 1835. To encourage the industries' installation in the town, it was built an industrial park, Els Masets, which was extended, and it expects that it would have an important effect on the local economy.
Some of the heritage elements of Bellvei are Santa Maria’s Church, from the 18th century, the Mas de la Muga, of which only there are remains of a part from the square tower and two cylindrical towers. On the other hand, sample crafts is one of the most popular traditions in Bellvei, which is celebrated from 2004. Moreover, Bellvei celebrates its Festa Major the weekend most near to 15th August.
