Funicular de Gelida

The project of the Funicular de Gelida was carried out by the engineer Santiago Rubió i Tudurí, and was opened on November 1, 1924.
The funicular was intended to improve the connection of the nucleus with the train station. It was mainly used by workers at the paper mills, train passengers and neighbors in the Sant Salvador neighborhood.
HOW IS THE FUNICULAR AND ITS ROUTE?
In 1980 Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya took over its ownership and on April 3, 1982 it was inaugurated after the general remodeling of its facilities.

HOURS OF OPERATION:
The funicular runs its service on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., combining travel with arrival times with Renfe trains. For all other times and during the week, the service is covered by the Bus Funi, which also connects the commuter train with the population.
