La carretera del vi - The Mediterranean Wine Road
It recreates the old route that connected the vineyards of the inner Penedès with the Garraf coastline
The Mediterranean Wine Road - La Carretera del Vi is a route that allows wine lovers to discover the old commercial route that connected the vineyards of inland Penedès with the coastline, to bring the wine that was made in the vineyards to the port to market it all over the world.
It is a joint initiative of 7 towns and 13 wineries, united to promote their attractions and tourist experiences. It is a 35 km linear route that connects the starting point, the castle of Sant Martí Sarroca, with the beaches of Sitges and goes through the towns of Pacs del Penedès, Vilafranca del Penedès, Sant Miquel d'Olèrdola, Canyelles and Sant Pere de Ribes.
Of course, the most interesting thing is to be able to make pit stops along the way to visit one of the 13 wineries or discover the corners of these villages, in order to find everything from Iberian remains to art-noveau buildings, castles and popular and traditional architecture. Complete all this with many points of interest along the way and the possibility to taste the varied gastronomy in any restaurant or winery.
To fully enjoy all the possibilities offered by La Carretera del Vi, you may buy the passport. The holders receive advantages in the wineries of the route, such as high-end wine tastings or discounts on special activities.
Visits to the museums and monuments of La Carretera del Vi can be made at a reduced rate or a special discount if the passport is presented.
Completing the passpost has a reward! When the passport holder visits the 6th winery, they will receive a personalized box of 6 bottles of wine or cava -one bottle for each winery visited. Plus, that will happen again in the 12th visit, when the visitor will receive a second box with 6 bottles from the following wineries visited!
