Elisabeth's Secret. The Penedès Rooster
Elisabeth and her family put all their hearts and souls into raising the roosters as their ancestors used to, even adding grapes and seeds to the diet of these precious birds. Together with other rooster breeders, they work to perpetuate the Penedès breed. Theirs is a small family farm and they run it with great love and passion.
The kitchen of her house hides a unique recipe. Calmly, quietly and patiently, they cook a roasted Penedès Rooster (Gall del Penedès) with plums and pine nuts, just the traditional way. The little ones, Oriol and Mariona, always help. They also like this very tasty meat with a soft and unique palate.
Jordi, Elisabet's partner, usually has to warn Oriol not to eat so much bread before the meal, he won't eat later. Once Jordi serves the rooster, as if it were magic, silence takes over the table. Now it is the time to savor this magnificent meal accompanied by a first class xarelo!
