This book documents the origins of the vine and wine in Catalonia through thirty archaeological sites and twenty sunken ships on the Catalan coast.

The archaeological sites documenting the origin of the vine and wine in Catalonia hide fascinating stories. They provide archaeological indicators of events that occurred 2,700 years ago, with the first colonial contacts of the Eastern Mediterranean, mainly Phoenicians and Greeks. The oldest evidence of wine-growing practices in Catalonia has been located at the site of Font de la Canya (Avinyonet del Penedès), with a chronology of the 7th century BC.

At the end of the presentation, you will be able to taste the Judes Macabeu wine, a wine born from the passion shared between Heretat Laverna and the ArqueoVitis cooperative for the research and dissemination of our wine origins. Viticulture, winemaking and archaeological research to taste in a glass, wine made the old-fashioned way.
